French Onion Soup

I know that winter is knocking on the door when I feel the urge to make and eat thick, warm soups all the time. Last night I decided to make one of my favorite recipes, the creamy French onion soup. It's incredibly easy and quite quick.

Just saute some onions on olive oil or butter (with salt & pepper), add some white wine for extra deliciousness, mix it in with boiling chicken soup, add lots of heavy cream and voila!!! Grated cheese, some bread, naan or croutons compliment the dish perfectly. Bon Appetite!

What's your favorite soup recipe? I feel like it's time to experiment in the kitchen! :)

  8. So much soup talk on all the blogs lately, it all sounds so delicious! My mom makes an amazing black bean soup, and I really need to get the recipe from her for this winter. :-)

  10. French onion soup, definitively one of my favorites, but I've never had the creamy variety, so thank you for the recipe!

Now, one of my home-country favorites is Dutch split pea soup, which must not be confused with stuff you might find in cans sitting on supermarket shelves, or even the ones from American cookbooks.

It is super wondeful winter food, a main dish, but it does take a bit of prep work. Perfect cooking for a snowy afternoon.

You'll find the recipe and photos here on my blog:
