Cup & Cake Barcelona

Farah is one of my oldest blogfriends. We started to stalk each others' blogs the time I had my old old Barcelona blog, before Gypsy*Diaries (jeez it's been a while ;)). We bonded over our mutual love for Barcelona and our common plans of moving to this amazing city. As luck would have it we've just missed each other... Farah has spent the past one year in Barcelona and has left the month before I've arrived. (You might remember that we had bumped into each other last year) SUCH A PITY! Nevertheless, she has made a quick visit and we finally managed to spend a girlie afternoon together gossiping over cupcakes (new fave Barna hotspot! Cup & Cake). I am now SERIOUSLY in love with this girl! She is one of the coolest chicks I've met and I just know we would be BFFs had we lived in the same town (or at least the same continent, this hottie has just moved to Kuwait). Farah Babe, you're the best! Hope to see you again soon! ;)

I've tried Red Velvet cupcakes for the first time in my life... yummy...

French Food Oh La La!

Unlike real Italian food, I really do appreciate the French cuisine! I have no clue how can French women stay so thin, but I was sure not behaving fitness appropriately in Paris... delicious goat cheese crepes, banana crepes with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream, French Onion soup... I could live on this every day! I even spent over an hour in a supermarket adoring all their delicious treats... ok, now I´m off to the gym.. as you can see I have definitely some damage control to do! ;)

LADUREE Paris

As I´ve been lucky enough to visit Paris several times in the past, I wasn´t really planning to go any of the obligatory tourist rounds, except for one! LADUREE! I have never had a macaroon in my life and we thought that there could not be a better start to a girlie day than breakfast at the famous Parisienne landmark. Well, I´m sad to say that I´ve yet to have breakfast, or try a macaroon at Laduree... you see we definitely wanted to sit in the cafe part and as the one on Champs Elysee was under renovation and it was too late for breakfast by the time we got to the one at Rue Royale (they don´t let you have just a coffee or a snack in lunchtime...) we were starving and settled for some tasty crepes in a nearby creperie (more on that later ;). Otherwise Laduree seems everything I´ve imagined it to be, classic girlie, chic and expensive... ;) Maybe next time!

Champs Elysees Christmas Market

Somehow I still cannot believe that we are in December and in just a few very short weeks Christmas is upon us! In Paris I´ve checked out the Champs Elysees Christmas market which was nice, but to be honest nothing compared to the charm of Christmar markets in Germany or in Hungary. Lots of sweet treats, hot wine and the obligatory sausage stands... meeeh... I rather look forward to walking around our beloved Christmas market in Budapest with my girlfriends just before Christmas! ;) Ho Ho Ho Ho!!!

A new beginning....

Among unbelieveable emotions I´ve landed in Barcelona yesterday afternoon! ;) When you want something your whole life, it really can be quite unbelieveable to actually be living it! I still can´t believe I´m here! Half the day I was walking around the city center hummung to myself... "I can´t believe I´m here, I can´t believe I´m here..." and the other half I started searching for my new room/apartment. I thought this would be my favorite part of the process, but to be honest I´m already bored. There are very few available rooms with my specifications, (big room, centric, nice location, cool flatmates... etc) but luckily I´ve managed to find one I like, plus I have 3-4 other appointments scheduled for today... I think by the end of the day I´ll choose my new home! ;) Wish me luck!

My first meal in Spain: a delicious Spinach + Goat Cheese + Apricot salad with an apricot-vanilla dressing in the cool area of Born (possibly my new home ;)

Cooking for Fall: All In Risotto

Now that the temperatures have started to sink heavily in Berlin, I'm craving more and more 'real' warm food, and a simple salad or fruit bowl just don't satisfy me anymore. Last night I had this humungus craving for a risotto and I simply gave in. I tried to stay on the healthy side with lots of veggies, chicken breast and brown rice, the result was simply divine! What I love most about risottos is that you can really use whatever you find in your fridge... this time I used onions, bell peppers and courgette, added some chicken breast and tomato sauce, than finally I whisked in the rice. It doesn't get much simpler than this. Bon Appetite!

Lunch at Naschmarkt

Ever since I saw a post about one of Vicky's favorite brunch places on the Viennese Naschmarkt (NeNe), I've been craving hummus non stop! I knew that one of the things we absolutely had to do is to go for a nice oriental lunch followed by some delicious frozen yoghurt while I was in Vienna. FroYo places are hard to come by in Europe so it was a definitely welcome change to my usual ice cream run. We spent the afternoon shopping, sightseeing and indulging in the gorgeous sun... and my friends, that's what I call a perfect girl date! ;)

My hummus with falafel and pickled vegetables gulped down with some home made limonata.
