2010

This year has been nothing but life-changing for me. In January I just moved back to Hungary and was having a hard time figuring out what direction my life should take, in February I was really close to breaking down and not even learning how to snowboard helped me out of the dump. In March I decided to be ridiculous and start one of these self absorbed stupid little things called a blog and it did change my life and that's a fact. The more I got involved in the online world the more I started to find myself. First I felt kinda strange having more online friends thean real ones but guess what, all the amazing stories, all the amazing people I've virtually met have inspired me and made me realize that I needed a change. In April I bought my first DSLR camera and I figured out what my absolute dream job may be..... becoming a photographer. In May AC moved to Hungary and we finally rented a little place in Budapest. It has never really been a real home but at least we have been living under the same roof again and secretely I started to look for photography schools. Could I really do it? Can I just decide screw my diplomas, I want something else out of life? Can I still make a change? Is it not too late??? In June I've stalked met a photographer who agreed to have me as an assistant for a couple of months. It was a very short but highly reqarding experience! YES! I've decided that it was definitely what I wanted to do, I've applied and got in art school. In July I took my mum to Egypt for her 50th Birthday while I've spent my August being lazy and enjoying the wonderful weather. In September school has started and I've made some new friends. In October I had my first real photoshoot and started to really immerse myself in photography. By November I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I want to, NO I will be a photographer! In December AC got a new job and he has moved back to Berlin, work got crazy and I've stressed out of my mind, cried my eyes out and convinced everyone that something's gotta give... I quit my job and decided to give it a full shoot.... if I make it I'll be the happiest girl alive.. if no at least I've tried.

Wanna know the morale of the story? I know I use phrases like "I love you all" or "your support means the world" and these things do sound cliche, catchy and totally untrue, but guess what.... If I hadn't met you, if I hadn't started this stupid little blog, I would have never figured out what I want to do with my life and I would still be a confused little girl, lost in this big big world. OK this does sound cliche as well and this is starting to be an embarrasingly boring and long blogpost, so I guess what I'm trying to say is THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart I thank you. It has been an incredible year with tragic lows and manic highs but for the first time in my life I know what I want and I can feel it so close I can almost taste it. I promise I'll be a better blogger next year and I promise to try and let you in my life even more than I did until now. I love you all and your support means the world to me! :)

Here is to an amazing and empowering 2011!!!!

Diego's Christmas

Ok Friends. Let me run my puppy obsession out, I promise I'll not turn Gypsy*Diaries into a doggie blog but I feel like a stupid little girl crazy in love for the first time in her life. It must be my maternal instincts kicking in but I just cannot talk about anything else than this little monster these days. For Chirstmas, Diego got a special treat, for the first time in his short little life we took him for a walk. We only walked around our courtyard but still, it was a huge step for him and we were so so proud of him! Isn't he the cutest!!? (Promise, no more dog posts for a while! :)

Gypsy*Friday - Postcards from 2010

Call me crazy but sometimes I do feel like I don't live up to the blog's name and I don't travel nearly as much as I should. :) On those days it's just lovely to look through old photos and think about all the places and faces that took my breath away. Here is my little travel roundup from 2010 (click on the pictures to hear the full stories). Where have you been this year?

 Let's hope that 2011 will carry at least as much mileage as this year has! :)

Comforts of Home

Hectic last minute Christmas shopping aside, the last few days have been some of the most relaxing of 2010. In all the traveling, moving, working frenzy I haven't had time to come home and spend enough quality time with my family. Being home, watching tv in pajamas with this little munchkin curled up in my lap while eating my weight in comfort food (my mum is seriously a cook extraordinaire) seems to be nothing special, but it's just what I needed before the crazy next few weeks begin. I'll spend Christmas Eve here with my family and I'll fly over to Milan, Italy on the 25th to celebrate with AC's family. On the 26th we'll travel to the mountains for a week of snowboarding with some friends and I'll fly to Berlin for some work stuff at the beginning of January. And that's just the beginning though, 2011 is already shaping up to be one of the craziest and hopefully best year ever! So much to look forward to! :)
Enjoy the holidays babes!

{I've never thought that loving an animal this much was possible, seriously I wake up in the middle of the night hoping it's morning already so I can go and play with him! CRAZZZY!!!}

Christmas Fashion

Christmas Fashion 2010, can really be described with two single words. Red and Sequins. As my first real, paid job (yeyyyyy) as a photographer I took some images for a boutique's website and fell in love with every single one of their pieces, not to mention that I liked the black fake Christmas tree much more then I should have. Well I'm still getting a real tree but maybe someday.... it's not that bad at all! :)

What will you be wearing for Christmas? I think I'm voting for sequins... :)

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

{Coat&Shirt - Zara, Jeans&Wedges - Mango, Leather gloves, Sequin hat - Primark, Bag - Chanel}

AC was (finally) back in town for the weekend! After some very tuff and hectic weeks, we managed to just relax and do nothing on Saturday while we were excited to have our favorite brunch on Sunday and I even bought my first Christmas presents (better late than never! :) On another note the weather outside is really getting frightful... severe minuses, snow covered streets, which reminds me that in one week I'll be snowboarding in Italy! Woohoooo bring on Christmas Holidays! I'm soooo ready!

The best gift is...

No, none of you have guessed what I got myself for my birthday! :) Drumrolls please............ FREEDOM! I QUIT MY JOB!!!!! It's been coming for a long time. I was working in a very meaningful and serious position in a very meaningful and serious company and quite frankly I hated it for some time now. The company was great with me, they allowed me to work part time, they allowed me to work from home, but when parttime becomes full time plus loads of overtime (for part time salary) I loose the most important thing, which is freedom. I have missed so many classes in photography school that I was on the edge of being dismissed, I did not have time to really advance, I was editing my pictures in the middle of the night, no sleep, no food, no gym, no time for blogging.... you get the point. So I've decided that even without an alternative I quit my job and give myself the chance to learn and become what I want to be... a photographer. I have one year to prove myself that I can do it and if it doesn't work out... well I can't say I've never tried and I'll search for a new boring job! Wish me luck babes! I'm frightened and excited and soooo hopeful for the future... :) I'm gonna be unemployed and totally broke but hopefully on the way to make my dreams come true!

And as my "friend" George Micheal said.... :)
I'll hold on to my freedom
May not be what you want from me
Just the way it's got to be
Lose the face now
I've got to live

Have a dreamy weekend!
