Simple Pleasures

I have never been the type of girl who sits alone in a cafe reading a book. A few weeks ago I had some time to pass between two appointments and I tried it out. Sitting in the comfy leather sofa sipping a latte, reading a great great book and watching the people chatting, smiling and hugging I really couldn't understand why am I not doing this more often. We all need some alone time and I'll surely make a habit out of sitting in a cafe... just me and my book. What do you usually do when you just need to be alone?

I've never read alone at a cafe, either. But it always seems like such a peaceful thing to do.

I love to sit in the front room, TV off, phone off, with just a book and a cup of coffee or tea. When it's warm, I take it outside to the patio. Sometimes I just put the book down and look around at the trees, neighbor's houses, and just day dream. It's so relaxing.

Its one of my favorite past times I really must say. when I was in Sydney I had an amazing organic coffee shop near my house... Massive windows so I could watch the world go by... Here in London its a little hard to find a good coffee house like that.

But I agree - we all need to make more time for ourselves and to be on our own.

Fantastic blog.

I have to agree with you, I'm not usually one to really venture out by myself. I might have to try it tho!

Will you talk to me again if I squeeze you into my carry-on?! :)

i would get my fave cup of tea and read some trashy gossip magazine, or go to a spa for some pampering, but it wouldn't be an alone time now, would it? :)), your relax alone time sounds divine though, xoxo

I'm a people person, but while vacationing in Paris, I found that I had the best time alone searching for my morning pain au chocolat and espresso. Also, I loved enjoying an afternoon glass of wine while sitting at a bistro. Something about Paris made it all very romantic...even if it was just moi!

I do it all the time! I love cafés. Depending on my mood I'll either have a cuppa tea or a ... Bellini!

i think it's VERY freeing when u do something like that - i checked off my bucket list to "eat alone" - another is to "go see a movie alone" .. i dunno why - but it seems like a scary concept - but actually feels REALLY good to do so!

i like to go for nature walks, take a bubble path, or go to a corner in my room and write :o)

I'm starting to enjoy the moments of alone time, sitting and reading in a coffee shop, at a park or on my balcony :) They seem to be few and far between though... life needs to slow down!

I always give myself a little alone time everyday just to relax. But, usually it ends with me shopping rather than reading a book haha

I didn't had the chance to do it a lot, but I definitly don't have a problem to do it, there is nothing to be ashame of being alone.
I think it's nice and calm.

I agree!!! I thought I would feel lonely when I first did this but NO. I loved it. We need this time for ourselves. Just to observe, think...

Your question just made me realize that I don't spend very much time alone. I guess I need some me time!

How do you like Glass House? I feld kind of mixed about it.

Love siting alone @ a cafe, sipping a cappuccino & quietly reading my book, too...At least, sometimes :)

I've also been known to go to the movies by myself -if there happens to be noone that fancies watching my fav movie @ the time.

Both seem to be incomprehensible to some people, though -and have earned me a good share of wondering/pitying looks (which kinda make me laugh) :P
