Vintage Berlin

Images via Überlin

I've been wanting to check out the vintage shopping scene in Berlin ever since I moved back and this weekend seemed to be the perfect time for a little discovery tour. I did my research, made a long list of stores I eventually wanted to check out and finally narrowed it down to a shortlist of  five finalists I wanted to visit. If you follow me on twitter than you already know how many stores I got to... ONE!!! Guys I found the most frickin' amazing vintage/thrift store, called COLOURS. I spent 4,5 hours like an insane person running between the racks of the 1000 sqm warehouse trying on like a million items and finally came back home with two bags full of new goodies. They sell by the kilo and selected pieces at  affordable prices. They also carry some new items, like some beautiful Twelfth st. by Cynthia Vincent pieces for a fraction of the original price. (To which I of course could not say no, but that is a story for another day! :) I've just checked their website and they have 3 other shops in Berlin (and some in Hamburg and Munich) waiting to be discovered by me! :D I'll keep you posted, but in the meantime here is a peek at my prey.

You know I've never really considered myself as a vintage / thrift store kinda gal, but that is changing quickly. It must be the thrill of the hunt, the excitement of discovering hidden gems with a history, the possibility of having truly unique clothes, not to mention the sometimes unbelievable price tags.. ah I'm enamored! What's your take on thrift shopping? Are you in for the hunt or do you prefer to buy new clothes?

dooo tell which thrift shops you like best!! I always like discovering unique little corners with cool clothes, not necessarily designer, but I love finding that one, two even three pieces that you can wear to shreds cause they're just oh-so-stunning! cool post! xo Manu

Thanks for the review and recommendation!
I don't always have patience to go through thrift stores but if I went to a highly recommended one, I'd be willing to look more!

I, like you, had never considered myself a vintage girl, until I started blogging and seeing the incredible finds other ladies were scoring. Then, I stumbled on a fantastic vintage store in my area and after finding the perfect genuine leather skirt for $10, I was hooked!

Amazing. Amazing. Vintage in San Diego is NOT like that. There is a new place that just opened up that I need to try and this motivates me. Last week I tried to give all the regulars another try and I was just disappointed.

I am putting this on my list of places to visit if I make it to Berlin!

I wish I could get into vintage shopping, but I always seem to come back empty-handed. I think I need to go with an expert and see the difference that makes, I am always amazed at the incredible things people find...maybe I lack the patience for the hunt :)

Haute World said...

What a great haul! I can't believe they actually sell items by the kilo.. that's insane. Love everything you bought, especially the pants and hat. I've been to Berlin quite a lot but never been to this place... that has to change! I also used to live in Hamburg and had no idea they had 'Colours' there too. Maybe it was better that way ;-)

Owow, this vintage shop looks like a straight up department store! It's rare to have thrift shops looking like a Fred Segal with all the demarcated racks and stacks of carefully curated items...so jealous, makes the thrill of the chase that much easier to find!

Great shots, thanks for sharing!
