After reading Nicole Krauss' History of Love I was excitied to read what her husband has come up with. No secret that I didn't love Nicole's book as much as everyone else, but Jonathan's book, "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" did not disappoint! I loved it from the first page to the last! It's engaging, funny, interesting and heartbreaking. Something that amazed me was the creativity with which this book was written. He uses blank pages and lots of beautiful pictures to give a book a different dimension. The last fifteen pages of the text comprise a flip-book collection of images of a man falling upwards toward the top of the World Trade Center. Heartbreaking :(
A great novel that I'd truly, wholeheartedly recommend for everyone!
" In a vase in a closet, a couple of years after his father died in 9/11, nin-year-old Oscar discovers a key...
The key belonged to his father, he's sure of that. But which of NewYork's 162 million locks does it open?
So begins a quest that takes Oscar - inventor, letter-writer and amateur detective - across New York's five boroughs and into the jumbled lives of friends, relatives and complete strangers. He gets heavy boots, he gives himself bruises and he inches ever nearer to the heart of a family mystery that stretches back fifty years. But will it take him any closer to, or even further from his lost father?"
