Just Read...

Since I got my new camera I'm addicted to photography. I tell you, it's not fun going out with me if I have my camera hanging on my side as I stop on every corner to take a picture of some ridiculous crap (and I mean that literally). Now, learning to use these SLR babies is quite a task, so I started to look for some literature to help me out. I read a lot of good reviewes of Scott Kelby's Digital Photography Book so I decided to give it a try. It is an easy to read foolproof book that helps you take better pictures. It does not go on explaining aperture, exposure... etc but rather it gives you great tips for taking great pictures.... just as if you would go out shooting with Scott, he just tells you what to do without going into too much details why. The book is written with great humor (on really pretty glossy paper :) and it really inspired me to start taking photography more seriously and focus on my image quality. Plus I just found out that you can even download the pdf version online here for free!!! (I kinda wish I knew that before I bought it) I recommend it to anyone looking for some tips on taking better pictures!

P.S: I'm thinking about enrolling in a serious photography school. It has been a dream of mine since forever and I think I might give it a try! :)

Thank you for the book tip. I am going to CA tomorrow for about a week and am borrowing my ex boyfriend's DSLR camera! He is very generous to have shared with me his baby. Here is his blog: www.robinsmink.com you can find more tips on picture taking there as well. Also look him up on flicker.com, he has amazing photos there as well.

As for your passion I highly support your ambition. If you have the time and means definitely do it! From what I have been seeing on your blog, you make nice pictures already. Although, you never told me if you use photoshop or any other processing software for your effects ;)

P.S. I might go to the library early on before my flight to see if they have the book you suggested. It should make a good read on the plane I bet :)

Found you through my friend's blog Sugarlaws. Thanks for the tip on the camera book - I love photography but am still just learning all the tricks of my camera.

Thanks so much for posting this!!! I'm starting to figure out the SLR camera I just purchased. I've been looking for books/tutorials that focus more on what makes a good picture, rather than the technical stuff. I'm off to read the .pdf now =)

The Open University (UK) has a short photography course you might like -you can look it up on their website.

I actually have all 3 books in the series you mention, but haven't got around to reading them yet. I'm currently going through the Collins'"Complete Photography Course", which is also very good...

Best of luck with your photo quest ;)
