One of my new year resolutions was to get in the best shape of my life this year. (Wasn't it yours too? :) Well, you know how this goes.... 8 months later I'm on the exact same spot on the scale, tried to eat healthy and went to the gym but no major changes in my lifestyle or in my body so far.
Today is the first day of a new season and it's time to make a change! I'm now more than ever dedicated and set out to achieve my goal and reach my ideal weight (5kg / 11 lbs to go). It's not only about loosing weight but also about becoming the healthiest I could be.
Last night a good friend of mine took me to a health seminar of a beauty/lifestyle company and I had a major eye-opening moment. You see this company has invented this scanning maschine which measures the carotenoid antioxidant levels in your skin-and through that indicates your overall antioxidant health. I thought, I would impress them with my healthy score, after all I do eat lots of fruits and veggies and exercise often. Well guess what... my score was way below average!!! (in the first bar of the orange table below, while a healthy score would be in the blue one....) If I take a cold hard look at myself I have to admit... I'm not living as healthy as I'd like and it's time to do something about it!!!
To jump start my healthy & fit by the end of the year program I've started a 10 day detox today!!! I'll only eat fruits, vegetables and only drink water and tea. After 10 days I'm planning to start the second, sustainable phase of my nutritional program: carbs only until 12pm, mostly fruits, veggies and lean meat in the afternoon/evening. Next to this I'm planning to do 3-4 hours cardio a week (mostly spinning) and 1-2 extra strength trainings in between. So here it is... I'm letting the fitness junkie emerge in me! :)
How are you doing with your New Year resolutions so far?
P.S: Don't forget to tweet/post about my giveaway for extra entries! ;)
P.P.S: HAPPY September!!!

I'm in the same exact place as you! I need to start over immediately. I've indulged and enjoyed the summer a bit too much :)
Good luck to you!

Good luck and keep us posted! I honestly can't even remember what my resolution was. I guess that is why we should write them down!
I did one of those scanner things too, I don't know how much I buy it. My roommate who eats total junk and never works out got a better score than me, and I was fairly active and eating well at that time. Regardless it's always good to have motivation to get healthy. I NEED to start jogging again, I got out of routine this summer. boo!
Good luck
I love your blog, but gym it's deninitly not fun!
I love your style!
Love,
Vicky
wow, way to go! i totally need to be healthier, it's a constant stuggle. best of luck!!
lovely blog!
I go to the gym 4-5 days a week. I eat healthy 99% of the time and climb stairs and treadmill for 1/2 an hour each sometimes longer and I can't seem to loose any weight. I'll be following your progress. I have a feeling you will do it! Good luck.
I hear you.... I am on the same wagon!
Have you tried green tea?! It is an amazing antioxidant.... I drink 4 to 5 cups a day, especially at work instead of coffee. I find I had an energy boost since I've started. And don't bother with fancy and expensive green teas, the basic liptons Green Tea is perfect.

I never do New Year resolution bc i always forget about them after a week or so… and it leads to general disillusionment with myself , so that’s why im trying to avoid them t all costs. ;p

this is the 1st year that I've actually stuck to my goals. Granted, I started working out a few months before the new year but I've been sticking it out 5-6X per week since then. I've never been this good!!
I've been considering a detox for quite some time now, but I can't seem to man up and do it!
I have to get on the train because my High School reunion is in October and I need to look hawt hawt hawt.
Uggh... don't remind me about my new years resoultions!! They've sadly been long forgotten! But I am working on my eatting habits and just becoming more overall healthy. And I'm actually doin' pretty great!!
Happy September! Nothing like rejuvenating yourself from the inside out! It will show and you'll be feeling fabulous by the end of the year! I can't think of a better way to start 2011!

You can do it! Good job :-) Hmmm as for me, I've been running more, but eating crap b/c I'm so busy. Need to settle down my life and focus on health!
I am not doing too well on my New Year's resolutions. Especially in the eating healthy department. I must say this post was very motivational! Keep us posted on your progress ; )
I go back and forth with my dedication too. It's a good thing I seriously love fruits and veggies!!! =) Maybe we should create a bloggie challenge for holding bloggers accountable?
like everything else you start good on everything and then you stop doing some and keep others... on the other hand the whole losing weight and be in shape has not happened... yikes!
@ Lisa Lisa Lisa that is a great idea!!!! Let's do it! :D
sounds great!! Try yoga! I just started and I swear I feel so good already. You still need to do cardio on top of it, but my body feels elongated already.
Hello! I've been reading your blog - I just discovered it today and I love it! As I was scrolling down the page - I just about freaked out to see my grandmother's "Hey smile fitness is fun" ad on your page. Where did you find this image?! We have old records and books and fitness articles for my grandma's fitness classes at my mom's house - but I've never seen this before. Please get back to me I'm so excited about it!
I still have a necklace that used to be hers that says smile on it. She died when I was little so the whole thing is very sentimental.
