Let the DETOX begin!

Did you have "live healthier" on your new year resolution list? Are you nodding widely right now? Thought so! ;) It's time to get started ladies, it's time to jump on that health bandwagon  again!  If you've been a long time follower you know that detoxing is something I do several times a year and as  I have received a lot of questions and emails on how I usually do it, I decided to share some more details with you this time.

I always try different methods, but the end results is always the seem.... I feel accomplished, healthy, radiant and lighter. Keeping with my new year resolutions (point 2) today I'm starting my biggest detox ever! :)

This time I'll be combining several different methods that I tested in the past and have proven to work for me. I'm not saying it would work for anyone, but in all honesty, if you're disciplined (and i know it's damn hard sometimes!) I just don't see how it wouldn't... so here are the specs.

 {Image credit: 1, 2, 3, 4}

My two week detox will consist of two different phases. In the first week, (starting today) I'm going on a liquid/soup diet. I actually decided to order from a delivery service specialized in healthy diet and detox. The daily menu, which consists of 4 different kind of soups and 2liters of detox lemonade will be delivered to my doorstep for less than what I'd normally spend on food on an average day. However, you do not need a food service to do this kind of a detox. There are thousands of healthy soup recipes out there and with a little planning and research you can make your own healthy soups, just avoid any recipes including pasta (or any carbs) or cream and use a lot of fresh veggies and fruits (oh yes, fruit soups are the best! have you ever tried one? :)

 {Image credit: 1, 2, 3, 4}

In the second phase, in week 2, I'll switch to a raw food diet eating only fruits, veggies and seeds. :) I'll keep you update on how it goes and will post my meals on twitter for anyone who's interested.

January is still not over and I feel like my body needs a fresh start badly! Anyone wants to join me? :)

wow, well done! good luck and i am sure you'll feel a million times better after the detox. I am a firm believer in feeling what you put in your body, i am eating lots of raw vegetables, porridge, nuts, seeds, a bit of fruit and fish/white meat and i totally feel the difference. i look and feel a million times better when i am doing that.

now, i have just eaten a whole pizza fiorentina though :D it';s my boy's birthday so some days i'll let it slip.

have fun and all the best with yoru plan!!

Good for you! Love the idea of detoxing. I just switched to a fruit only in the morning experiment. I read about it in a raw food book and am dying to see what effects it will have on my health. Best of luck in your detox!

I so admire your ability to do a detox diet. I tried a raw food diet just for a week and barely made it. I did feel so much better though, so kudos to you for being able to do this!!

The soups look fantastic! I had nice results with my raw-ventures last week. Breakfast and lunch worked best, couldn't make it through dinner, but dinner was still carb-free, and the healthy decisions kept flowing. Plus it helped my photo shoot we did this weekend I'll be posting on Friday. :)

good luck! fruit soup does sound really interesting, might have to look into that! I've been feeling healthier by eating more weight watchers & skinny cow ice creams instead of going to the bakery. It makes a huge difference. xx

I too love detoxing and my husband and I do it four times a year.
The basic programme we do is usually two weeks but it takes at least 4-6 weeks for the body to detox and re-align itself properly so I usually go on for a bit longer.

Like you say, the benefits are so worth the side-effects and pain whilst doing it. Usually the good stuff kicks in after a week for me and I love feeling my body and mind clear itself from pollution.

Best of luck with your program. I am starting mine in the next week or so.

x Charlotta

Detoxes are so good and your plan is right on. I have too tried both of these (soup,liquid diet and raw foods only) and they work for me too. The hard part is the first few days and then it is a breeze.

Considering how brutally cold the weather's been where I live, an all-soup diet actually sounds quite appealing! Though as much as I love fruits and veggies, I don't think I could go two weeks without pasta. ;-) I normally eat pretty healthy food anyway, so instead my resolution is to go to the gym 2-3 times a week this year, because I slacked off really badly last year.

Hi Gabby! I'm a Gaby with one 'b' :) I'm actually detoxing as well, but a bit less hardcore than you are. It's a great way to start the new year for sure. xx

I want to start a detox diet next week. I will eat pretty much vegan food (no animal products like cheese, milk etc., no sugar and no coffee alkohol).
I am still lookiing for some nice vegan recipes. do you have an idea where to find some great ones? or even a great detox cookbook?

Thanks
