Mi Habitacion

There is still like a gazillion things I want to do in my new room before it's finished (like painting the walls and finding a few new furnitures on the flea market) but here is how it looks right now. I love that the room has two big windows, so there is plenty of light and I also appreciate the strange form of the room, due to it being on the corner and all. I have waaay too many stuff (=shoes!) all over the place, but I've accepted that it will always remain somewhat busy and messy, and that sometimes we just need to let go and enjoy the mess! Right? ;)

My mannequin is a real diva, didn't appreciate moving countries too much... I love my new retro green leather couch and my new pear candle which gives an amazing smell to the  whole room!

Remember my globe lamp? A flea market find from Berlin.

I never had so many pillows in my life and I don't know why??? Seriously if you don't have at least 6 pillows in your bed go and get some!!! I feel like a prince while sleeping. ;)

Sneak Peek: Barcelona Crib

It's no secret that it was not love at first sight with my new apartment. I liked the location and the size&lightness of my room, but the rest of the apartment seemed to be way too messy for my taste. Since than I've learned to love and appreciate the bohemienne uniqueness of this artistic place and I've absolutely fallen in love with my flatmates. We are like a little family, everyone respects each other's privacy, yet we do a lot of things together. Movies, dinner, record spinning, baking... it's so much fun! Of course living with 3 other people has it's ups and downs but I'm really starting to feel home here!

This time I thought you might enjoy a lil sneak peek into our living room... Next time I'll show you some details of my room! ;)

Apartment Hunting

I can't believe that in less than two weeks I'll be hunting for my dream apartment in Barcelona! I've already started my research and I moreless know what I want. I've chosen my favorite districts and I keep my eyes open for a nice, big, light room for rent. I'll for sure move together with other people to get into the swing of things, make new friends and make sure that I never get bored. Finding cool flatmates is on the very top of my priority list right now! ;) It's gonna be such a different life! I haven't lived together with someone (apart from my ex boyfriend) since I was in college. Getting very EXCITED! ;)

Facelift

I woke up this morning with a burning desire to give Gypsy*Diaries a summer facelift (it must be the new month syndrome! ;)) I wanted something more clean and mature and with the new design I think I've accomplished just that, what do you think?

I'm still working on a few tweeks here and there, but I think the overall look is done for now. With a little creativity and a few hours on your hand you can totally change your blog's look and I promise it's easier than you'd think! ;) Who's ready for a face lift? ;)

P.S: Special thanks to Rosa & Carlotta from Illustrated Moodboard who made this illustration of me last year! It's a core part of my new blog identity. Love it! ;)

Meet My Closet

The last two weeks without a closet have been horrible and I couldn't appreciate more being able to hang my clothes and know where to find things now! Living from suitcases is NOT fun! While our new closet may seem big at first, it really isn't, especially as we share it with AC.

Right now I have a very eclectic mix of clothes in there... I came with a suitcase in November and than with another one 2 weeks ago. Obviously I didn't want to take anything in November that I might want to wear until February so the closet is now full of wardrobe rejects I hardly ever wear and my most favorite things which I took with me the last time around. Most of my clothes, bags and shoes are still in Hungary and at this point I'm not even sure where I'd put them, but I do miss them dearly! :)

Day One - Domesticized

I had all these plans of all the amazing things I'd be doing on my first day of freedom, but as the new flat is a mess, most of our things are still in boxes and the place hasn't been cleaned since god knows when, I had to bring the domestic goddess out instead of the creative nut (not that you cannot organise bills creatively but... :)

While I thought I'd sleep in enjoying that I don't have an alarm set I woke up even earlier than usual excited for my first day of unemployment! After preparing my first cup of latte I settled in my new comfy office (OK, AC's new comfy office :) and browsed through my favorite blogs' updates. Check that beauty behind me! I'm a total Mac virgin, having used only PCs in my life, but this pretty, shiny, huge new screen will definitely come in handy with blogging and photo editing!

I prepared a healthy lunch and then started to clean up the hugeeeeeee mess. There is still a loooot to do but I definitely made some progress! :)

Organised some of my accessories, fixed some lamps, drilled some holes and bought some herbs for the kitchen!

After cleaning up the office, I decided to be extra nice and I even made dinner  (that's 2 warm meals prepared in one day!!!) with heart shaped pasta (originally planned for Valentine's) for my man. I used a pre-prepared pesto-basil sauce and parmesan with fresh basil from our window! :D

Overall I feel like I worked much more than on a usual work day which was definitely not planned, however I really cannot wait now to finish everything and start enjoying having a nest of our own! :)

Happy Weekend darlings! I'll be organising some more, snapping some pics and hosting a housewarming brunch for my girlfriends! :) Who knew being unemployed is so much work fun? :D ENJOY!

The Berlin Crib

I know I really should have waited until we've actually moved in and have finished all the rooms with the little details before posting about our new Berlin flat, but I just couldn't help myself. Here is a sneek peek of the current status of things. We have most of the main necessities already, (except for a closet!) but the small things like lamps, decoration and the things that make a home a home are still missing. I envision countless flea market visits in the next few months and to be honest I couldn't be more excited to finally settle down and build a little nest with AC. The date has been set as well, I'm moving on the 12th of February after my photo school exams. (only one month left woohooo!!!)

Living Room:
As you can see on the before picture, the bare flat was pretty "soc-real" with ugly floors, so the first thing we've decided to do was to redo those. We chose a mid brown tone as I personally don't fancy light wood and dark tones would have made the already very small flat seem even smaller. As for the furnitures, we are trying to mix simple, clean lines with a touch of pop art chic and a pinch of mediterranean rustic feel. When it's done we're hoping to decorate this room with the souvenirs we've collected on our travels. Still a long way to go...

Office:
The office will be mainly AC's territory so we were aiming to make it a touch more masculine than the rest of the flat. We're still missing a rug (I'm thinking b&w stripes) and I'm currently selling the small black sofa on Ebay as it has overcrowded the room but in general it's coming alone nicely.

Bedroom:
The most uncomplete part of the flat (no need for a before photo here). We have an amazing bed but that's pretty much it. It's time to get to work! :)

Kitchen:
We are actually thinking about investing in kitchen furniture, but for now the kitchen is almost done. The only thing we really miss is a nice curtain and some herbs and flowers for the window. The light in this room is amazing so I cannot wait to cook/bake and photograph for you in there! :)
That's all for now honeypies! Stay tuned while we make this space our own. Lots of flea market finds, deco ideas and DIYs to be expected in the next few months! ;)

House Tour: DreamDeco

I'm seriously obsessed with Kelly's new Brooklyn pad. I can only imagine how much time and effort went into making this place as glamorous as it is. Minimalistic yet chic, modern but vintage, makes me want to go back to Berlin and finish our new apartment so badly! :)
